Working in a limited pallet, using a combination of transparent wash, glazing and dry brush techniques to explore both realism and personal style in watercolour. David will be showing you his way of working with watercolour to control the medium for maximum photo-realism effect.
Paint Colours (brand not essential but must be Artist Grade paints):
– Burnt Umber
– Caput Mortuum
– English Venetian Red
– Gold brown
– Magnesium Brown
– Quinacridone Gold
– Titanium White
Brushes David use are: Natural hair quill, 2 flats 1/2 and 1/4 inch, and a tiny detail brush.
Not essential people have exactly the same, please bring whatever brushes you have and love.
– a rag
– jar for water
– palette (can just use a plastic lid)
– small pad of paper for testing colours (ideally 300 GSM)
David will supply outline on paper and reference materials
